I'm almost as cranky as Worf today.

by Valerie M

Today is one of those days where I wish I never crawled out of bed.

Nothing specific happened, except I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. Maybe it had something to do with me being unusually tired (*cough* 6 a.m.) and thus irritable. Now I’m finally back home and I can begin to unwind and try to erase this day from memory. Here are my top ten ways to get out of a stank-azz mood.

  1. Take a long hot shower with some scented soaps. Candles are great, too! For the pyromaniac in me.
  2. Ride around the community on my bike until my legs start screaming bloody murder.
  3. Play with my cranky cat, who’s sure to do something to make me laugh.
  4. Read a good book. Right now I’m in the middle of Atlas Shrugged. I’m usually a fast reader, but putting a dent into this book has been moving slowly… very slowly. I’m embarrassed to say how slowly.
  5. Meet up with a good friend and laugh over dinner and drinks. I’m craving a cheesesteak today… because I love clogged arteries, of course. Too bad it’s so hard to look for a good place here among all the impostors without driving more than an hour. Down with cheesefakes.
  6. Continue working on my painting. Picasso can go kick rocks. Or not.
  7. Play SimCity 4. I’m a sucker for simulation games. Except I hate it when those damn Simsfolk stop me from building a city that rivals NYC. Hello, 50% tax is not THAT high if you think about it. It could have been worse. You could have been a Belgian citizen.
  8. Pull some more pranks on my sister. In my house, April Fools’ Day is every day.
  9. Listen to my favorite songs on repeat for the remainder of the day.
  10. Pop in an episode of Star Trek and watch while drinking hot chocolate with a ton of marshmallows. Yum. Worf can come rescue me any day.

I feel better already.

Screw you, bad day! You do not own me!
